I discovered clowning in 2021 through Nose to Nose, and what started as curiosity became a life changing exploration of creativity, vulnerability and play.
Clowning is not about being funny. It is about being present. It is about noticing what is already there, the tiny impulses, the mistakes, the unexpected moments, and allowing them to become something.
There is a particular magic in the stillness. In the pause before anything happens. A glance, a twitch, an accidental gesture or a leap into the unknown can become a whole story.

Clowning to me, feels very close to poetry, painting and life itself.
Like many adults, perhaps, I had forgotten how to play. Clowning reminded me that imagination is not a childish thing to leave behind. Rather, it is an essential way of connecting with ourselves and each other.
That spirit of curiosity and permission now runs through much of my creative work, including Hame-ish Arts: creating spaces where people can experiment, make, laugh, fail safely and discover something unexpected.
If you would like to talk about clowning, creativity or collaboration, please do get in touch.
